Spider-Man Gag Reel Footage Shows Andrew Garfield Cuddling Tobey Maguire

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have a cuddle in their Spider-Man suits in the official gag reel for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

A preview for the official Spider-Man: No Way Home gag reel features, among other things, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire having a cuddle on the set of the Sony/Marvel film.

Sony Pictures Entertainment posted the gag reel preview to its official YouTube channel, writing, “Time for a cuddle and some laughs.” The footage shows an outtake from the scene in which Garfield’s Peter Parker offers to crack the back of Maguire’s version of the same character, only this time Garfield gently cuddles Maguire before the two break into giggles. Other outtakes include Tom Holland and Jamie Foxx having some trouble on stunt rigs, Garfield dropping his Spider-Man mask and being unable to retrieve him due to the wires on his back and, finally, Garfield and Maguire intensely staring at each other before once again breaking into laughter.

No Way Home released in theaters on Dec. 17, 2021. The film joins Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Holland) following the shocking conclusion of 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) revealed his secret identity to the world with the help of J. Jonah Jameson (JK Simmons). Peter is distraught, as this not only uproots his own life, but also the lives of his girlfriend Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson (Zendaya) and his best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) by ruining their chances of getting into the college of their choice.

Peter Pays visited to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), asking the former Sorcerer Supreme to cast a spell that would erase the knowledge of his secret identity from the world. The spell is botched thanks to too many last-minute amendments. This causes numerous villains from Spidey’s pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe films to be pulled across the multiverse, including Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Lizard (Rhys Ifans) and Electro (Foxx ).

However, Holland’s Spider-Man gets some multiversal backup in the form of two alternate versions of himself, played by Maguire and Garfield. Prior to Holland first giving the mask in the MCU back in 2016, Maguire starred in Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy from 2002 to 2007, while Garfield starred in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology from 2012 to 2014.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters and on Digital now. The film arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on April 12.
