Internet Obsesses Over Woman Fostering 30 Kittens

A woman who has taken in 30 kittens has captured viral attention this week after sharing a video of her new feline dependents on TikTok.

With more than 465,000 views, the video, which can be seen here, was shared by user felinefosteradventure and shows the abundance of tiny kittens curled up in beds, boxes, and cushions. Delighted by the adorable scene, internet users have flooded to praise the woman for her caring gesture.

Spring marks the beginning of what a lot of people will call “kitten season”—the time of year when thousands of kittens will be taken in by animal shelters. Feline breeding season takes place during the warmer months, usually March through to October, and many shelters will experience the bulk of their cat intake during this time.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that in Los Angeles, 90 percent of the kittens entering shelters come in during kitten season. Similarly, 84 percent of kittens being taken in by rescues in New York City are taken in during the kitten season months.

With 30 kittens and seven mother cats, the TikToker joked in the comments: “It was a good idea at the time, now I’m questioning my sanity,” before adding: “Kitten season is in full force!”

One TikTok user commented: “All those kittens. That’s a whole lot of cuteness to remember when you’re cleaning up after them,” and another wrote: “This is what my version of heaven looks like.”

In a more recent video showing the group of kittens, the poster felinefosteradventure pleaded with viewers and said: “Spay/neuter your kitties! People don’t realize how fast cat colonies can grow. We saved these littles all from one house where an unneutered male stray was let inside with unspayed females.”

The ASPCA says that pet foster families play an essential role in helping shelters: “Foster families save lives by freeing up space in your shelter, socializing animals, assisting with preventing disease transmission in the shelter and within foster pets.”

“Oh you thing chaos, I like it,” said one TikTok user. Another commenter wrote: “That’s literally my dream life.”

The kittens came from a hoarding house where they were left with their mothers, and now are being cared for in this TikToker’s home.

“You are a great human being and an inspiration. Thank you,” said one comment. Another user asked: “Be honest, did you lay on the floor and have someone put them all on you before getting back to serious business? I would have.”
