In perfect time for the warm and sunny summer months ahead, Aldi has become the first UK supermarket to launch ice cream for dogs.
Available in two distinct flavours, Pea & Vanilla and Apple & Carrot (£2.99 for a pack of four 110ml servings), the ice creams are 100% plant-based, and have been made with real fruit and vegetables. So as well as keeping your four-legged friend cool, they’re also a nutritious snack for your pup.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, confirmed: “With more of our customers now owning dogs, we’re delighted to launch a nutritious and tasty treat that will help keep dogs cool in the heat. Being the first UK supermarket to launch a dog-friendly ice cream comes just in time for summer as we look forward to the warm weather.”
To celebrate the launch, Aldi has partnered with local ice cream vendors across the country to get the ice cream straight into the paws of pooches. Vans across Brighton, Essex and Scotland will be taking part in the ‘dog-livery’ service to allow pups to sample the flavors before the official launch.
“Teaming up with ice cream vans across the country gives us the chance to get the product straight into owner’s hands, so they can share a special moment alongside a tasty treat outside with their furry friend – we’re confident they won’t be able to keep their paws off it,” Julie says.
You’ll be able to find the brand new Beechdean Dog Ice Cream in the freezer aisle at your local Aldi store and nationwide from the 16th of June. And much like with Aldi’s Specialbuys, once the dog ice creams are gone, they’re gone. So be sure to get you and your dog’s paws on them while you can.
